Re: [Harp-L] Re: stolen Harps FOUND !!!
I had some harps stolen several years ago, it's actually what 1) got me off Golden Melodies and 2) got me into fixing harps. Several were in one of those Hohner belts, but I didn't lose them all, the Hohner belt turned out to be a mixed blessing, when I had it, harps kept falling out of the dang thing and same thing happened with the theif, it wouldn't hold harmonicas for him either, so there were, I think, three laying around in my yard.
Luckily, I've not had any harps stolen since.
My favorite harps, probably nobody'd steal. One of my favorites is the Joe Leone Db custom I have, Smo Joe tuned, by custom, I mean there is a single custom reed Joe made from a .38 Special casing. Looking at it from a thief's perspective, it wouldn't be so attractive. Busted comb, one entire end of it has been resculpted with epoxy, smiley face sticker (that's the Leone seal of approval on it). As a thief, I'd probably feel sorry for it.
BUT, here's a video of Joe playing that harp:

Without the info and background, a lot of our favs lose their appeal and awesomeness. One thing I hate about about stealing is it separates items from their history and stories. That, too, is a crime.

Is it just me that found this disconcerting that a case of harps could be stolen from a vehicle, and the thief found NOTHING of (intrinsic) value IN the case. Notwithstanding the case was full of custom harps. This has to go along with my messages years ago entitled:
harmonica..no respect.
